The Breast Care Center at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital is committed to the prevention, early detection and treatment of breast cancer. We offer advanced technologies, specialized services and a sensitive staff specially trained in breast care so women can receive accurate answers about their breast health quickly and in a calming environment.

Located in Barrington, the Advocate Good Shepherd Breast Care Center is dedicated to women's breast health and is recognized for providing more care to patients with advanced technology such as intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT). IORT is a treatment alternative for women that reduces radiation treatment time as the procedure is performed at the same time as a lumpectomy.

Expert Coordinated Care

We use a comprehensive approach throughout your entire journey, including prevention, risk reduction, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship of breast cancer. We coordinate all of these services to provide you with the best possible experience and best clinical outcomes.

What you can expect:

• Your imaging services are provided by licensed, skilled technologists who are trained in breast imaging.
• Board-certified radiologists specializing in breast imaging then interpret your images.
• The physicians work closely with the surgeons to provide accurate diagnosis and treatment plans.
• If you have a breast concern or if your mammogram shows a breast abnormality, you will meet with a nurse and breast surgeon.
• Our breast nurse navigators are here to assist with coordinating care and providing support throughout treatment.
• Breast surgeons are available for appointments Monday through Friday at the breast center.
• Appointments can be coordinated so that you can have your imaging and see a breast surgeon in the same visit.

Advanced Technology for Detection

Early detection is critical and we offer the most advanced technology, including full field digital mammography, 3D mammography (digital breast tomosynthesis), whole breast ultrasound and breast dedicated MRI. This technology has increased the detection of invasive breast cancers by 40 percent and decreased call backs by 15 percent.
