He was very straight forward in giving me the facts related to the new prescription I would be taking.
Dr. Mao always hears me out. He listens carefully and attentively. Then, he will respond in kind with clear and concise answers. I appreciate his no-nonsense approach, but he still retains his sense of humor. He has given me his direct phone number and always answers my questions by text or voice whenever necessary.
Dr. Mao is excellent He states the problem, gives his choice of the best sol'n, and asks my opinion. At times, I wish he was a LITTLE more personable (but I understand that his time is important).
good
I have very high confidence in my cardiologist Dr. Justin Mao.
EXCELLENT
Very good!
Dr. Mao is an excellent listener and medical provider. However, the speed at which he speaks is a little fast. Slowing his rate of speech would be helpful to me to more effectively process the information that he is sharing. Thank you.
Dr. Mao, keep up your great work. Visiting with you via phone was excellent.
The emergency at Edward is marvelous and all of the staff there are very helpful and caring.
Dr. Mao is a caring doctor.
I'm please in having Dr J Mao as my cardiologist He has shown great concern sense day one as me coming in as a new patient....
Good
Dr Mao is a great cardiac doctor to have. I would recommend this doctor to my family and best friends.
Great experience
Good
Showed concern and provided me with our next step.
Dr. Mao performed an ablation in January 2019. Since then I have not experienced any incidents of AFIB. I'm forever grateful for his skill and concern for my situation.
I feel comfortable talking to Dr. Mao. I'm especially glad that because of his successful ablation I can now see him and my cardiologist Dr. Ramanathan every 12 months instead of every six.
Good visit.
Given he was not my usual provider for my yearly pacemaker check he was well informed and very competent.
Dr Mao very well versed on state of the art medicine and longevity.
Very good Doctor. I have recommended DrMao to others.
I feel extremely comfortable with my health care needs in the hands of Dr. Mao and his staff.
I do believe that this doctor was more attentive to my questions this visit, I still do not have an understanding of the symptoms I do feel. It would have been helpful for him to give me indications that would help me understand when (or how) the symptoms that I feel might indicate that I have a problem with my heart.
Dr. Mao is very courteous and knowledgeable.
I had a bad experience with the front desk receptionist- I believe her name is X. My appointment was made under my maiden name, which seems obvious enough to figure out, but she not only turned me away from the office (told me to leave and call someone to figure out when/where I had an appointment), but went as far as to tell me Dr. Mao wasn't even in the office this day seeing patients and also that he would have never have ordered the heart monitor I claimed I wore earlier in the week. Basically, she made me feel like I was just making stuff up and she took no measures to help resolve my concerns. I showed up at 11:40 for my noon appointment and after no assistance from her and me finally calling the office, someone else (very helpful woman) got it sorted out promptly and I was seen just after 12:30. It caused for unnecessary stress and wasted time for everyone. It was an awful first experience with the office, however the rest of the team and appointment went smoothly.
Dr Mao treats multiple family members. he is always compassionate, thorough and offers options for treatments along with the pro's and con's. He does talk a little fast, which can make it difficult to absorb negative test results but he always asks if we have questions and is happy to re-explain the information until we understand.
We fully trust Dr Mao.
All went well and very informative
I say all was good and very understanding
I was in the hospital overnight & he came to see me & he actually asked me why were you in the hospital? I didn't know that. Interesting.
always a conforting and informitive experience
nice doc, and very helpful
My appointment was for 3:45pm. I arrived at the doctor's office at 3:25pm. I was walked to one of the examination rooms at 3:38pm. The nurse weighed me, took my blood pressure, and heart rate. She was very friendly. Dr. Mao met me at 3:44pm. This is a tremendous difference from my last routine visit where I waited almost an hour past my scheduled appointment. At this most recent appointment (12/6/19) the doctor and I had small talk about the upcoming holiday and family. He asked me about my medication, listened to my heart, and explained a possible surgical procedure I may want to consider to correct my A-fib. Overall, the appointment was pleasant and much improved compared my previous experience at with Dr. Mao about six month earlier.
Overall, the appointment went very well. The doctor said I should make my next routine check up appointment a year from now rather than every six month. I made an appointment for November 2020.
all good!
I have previously had many problems navigating Midwest Heart administrators and nurses. it's very hard for a new patient to get through the maze but I'm learning and it's going better now that I'm feeling better. At first I felt like I was an EKG number.
Dr Mao and the nurse were wonderful in helping to provide a second look at my heart health before my knee replacement. I am doing great after the surgery. thanks for taking me so quickly under such a short appointment period!!!!!!
There was a lot of patients arriving at 8 so they called in additional help. I had a nice person who was familiar with the check in process so I sat for 30 min. past my appt. time and I came 20 min. early.
All visits & experience with Dr. Mad have been excellent. He is my "pacemaker" doctor.
Dr. Mao and his staff were wonderful!!
Dr. Mao is an excellent heart specialist and I will continue to go back to him for his services.
Dr. Mao is a very capable heart doctor.
Extremely intelligent & knowledgeable. Very attentive & caring. Made me feel comfortable & assured with problem I presented.
provider seemed to be rushed on to the next patient
Dr. Mao has been great!
Provider addressed my concerns.
excellent care very professional
Great
All my experiences with this provider are excellent.
Lukewarm. He seemed bored and talked REALLY fast. I had to ask him to repeat himself. It's a lot to absorb!!
Very professional. Set up an appointment for 1 year. Dr. Mao listed symptoms to watch for and to contact his office immediately should I experience any of those symptoms.
Pacemaker testing and then visit by heart doctor went very well.
He was nice, competent, and efficient.
As usual, he's in and out in a few minutes or less.
Very good doctor.
Good experience, friendly staff.
Excellent
Dr. Mao is a wonderful provider. He listens and we both assess what is going on & take steps to correct it. I feel he always listens to my concerns & spends time going over everything.
I came to this office after seeing another heart specialist that I wasn't pleased with. my wife goes to this office. very glad I switched.
The doctor and nurse are very good. The office staff was rude and made me wait.
Dr Mao seemed to be rushed during this visit. Not much was said between us. Last appt he wanted me to have an Echo but due to family obligations out of state for the last 3 months I was not able to do. Subsequently, my family member died and now I have moved back to my home in Illinois. I assured Dr Mao I would be able to do test now.
Great all was covered about my concerns.
Excellent care! Instilled confidence! GREAT communication. GRATEFUL to him. Thankful to have him on my heart care team. The BEST!
great listener. really shows he cares
Would like dr. to spend more time with me, being that I'm old (84) and being a slow thinker, dr. needs to spend time with patient.
whatever new system your converting to sucks. spent more time checking in than I did with the doctor.
Excellent provider
This provider was informed and experienced. Explored several options and discussed each one to inform my decision. Listened and answered my questions and concerns. Left feeling comfortable to make my decision in a few days based on information given.
Was very good.
Dr. Mao was as pleased with my ablation result as I am.
Irregular heart beat. Skips beats. Last appt I believe, of day. Asst. was very good. Dr Mao shook my hand. Took Asst give me ECG. 48 hour monitor. I showed him a list that I felt was important. Glanced at it and left it.
The doctor is good, the office is frustrating.
I waited about an hour.. the Dr did not have my test results. and he was very rushed when he finally came in. I don't feel confident in making a decision about the next step that he offered
Dr Moa is my cardiologist that I feel is very knowledgeable and has a genuine concern for my health.
For my Ecocardiogram the technician was very cold and impersonal. I was then kept waiting for 45 minutes for my heart monitor appointment because that technician was running late. At no time did she apologize for being so late or keeping me waiting. My visit with Dr. Mao was fine, my best experience was with his nurse.
new system start so much confusion!
Due to a flare up of my AFIB I was told to come into the office as a walk in. Although it was expected that I would have to wait longer than usual I was treated with respect and concern. Everything worked out for the best and it was a good thing that I was asked to come in and be seen.
Dr. Moa takes time to listen. Is not rushing you out the door to go to the next patient.
No complaints. Dr. Mao knows what he is doing. I am very satisfied with Dr. Mao.
The experience was very good and it made me comfortable ever since my heart went into a-fib last year. I have much confidence in the direction my provider gives me.
Dr. Mao is fast but to the point. if I had more questions i'm sure he would answer them. Not much of a physical examination, i.e. quick listen to the heart, but maybe he is going by info from the pacemaker.
I found Dr. Mao to be helpful and took his time to explain things. He answered all my qeustions and laid out a couple options and was open to hear my feedback.
I have total confidence in Dr. Mao. However in general this group lacks in many areas.
Very caring and understanding. Make you feel your health is important. A intelligent caring person as well as a good doctor. Good patient relationship.
I like Dr. Mao very much. He seems to listen to what I have to say and take it into consideration. He is friendly and seems to know what he is doing.
Dr. Mao seems to listen; however, he is rather poor with communications. He doesn't explain findings well. He doesn't explain process well. He doesn't explain treatment plans well. He just put me on a new medication and on a heart monitor for only 2 days to see how the heart reacts to the med. But he didn't tell me what time to take the med. If I waited until bedtime, that would only give 24 hours on the med. I had to ask how I would be further directed: stay on med? change dosage? stop? l found out at the scheduling desk that I'm not even to come back until 1 year. I'd previously been told I'd be on a 6-month schedule. Dr. Mao is a poor communicator and is very confusing.
easy to talk to as he listened and showed concern
My experience with Dr. Mao has been very, very good. I was somewhat traumatized over a previous evaluation from a previous provider.Dr. Mao calmed me immediately. In my first visit he explained that A-Fib is always taken seriously and proceeded to tell me what the next step would be. He went over my prescriptions, explained the purpose of each, changed some and scheduled follow-up appointments--one with a Nurse Practioner and one with him. After 3 months I met with Dr. Mao again and received the summary of that visit the same afternoon that concluded I "was completely asymptomatic". Once again Dr. Mao reassured and calmed me. My experience with Dr. Mao and my husband's more serious experience with Dr. X were outstanding! I would like to learn more about The Advocate Medical Group. Thank You!
I feel this office provided me with the best care I need at the time
Dr. Mao was very pleasant and professional. He is a very knowledgeable and competent doctor.
Dr. Mao was very informative & helpful I like him.
Dr. Mao was very informative. Let us know what our problem was, and what our next step was.
Dr. Mao is a very compassionate & caring man. I would recommend him to anyone dealing with AFIB.
Dr Mao is always respectful, knowledgeable about my history, calming, able to answer my questions, willing to take time to answer questions and concerns. The girl scheduling my stress test was not friendly while doing the scheduling with me. Actually, she was rather testy. I did not appreciate that. Other than that encounter my visit was fine.
I'm glad to find answers to my health related symptoms.
I chose this office because I bought my parents here.I really like this provider.
Excellent as usual! He literally saved my life due to my heart condition.
Excellent patient management; knowledgeable and informative. Answered questions.
